Stocking Question

So I'm trying to be more responsible then I was in college and plan my tank ahead of time. I've read many points of view on stocking an aquarium and I'm hovering between the following. One basically says that I could house a Lion fish and 2 wrasse's in a 150 gallon tank (square foot times 3 for total number of inches). And another says I can have half an inch per gallon which sounds a bit more reasonable but then eels pop into the picture and I could barely house 2 ribbon eels in a 150 gallon.

So any personal experiences from anyone who runs a fish heavy tank?

Anyone who does stock based on the math know how eels are figured into the equation?

For the record, my sump has A LOT of extra filtration in anticipation of a high bio load.

Im obviously a beginner as well but from my research i think its less of a “x inch per gal” kinda thing an more of a bioload mixed with required swimming space thing. Someone made a arguement i was reading about anthias. Small fish in inches but huge fish in bioload due to multiple feedings from activity. Someone more experienced will answer your question better but between surfing forums and places like liveaquaria has given alot of info on this for me. Best of luck
