This is very important, it is for a friend of mine that is setting up a 250 g FOWLR. This guy usually over stock and buy fishys that has non survivability in home aquarium.
PLEASE tell him what do you think on species, stocking, maximum number of fishys, etc.

Thanks a lot

Does he care that he overstocks and buys fish likely to die? If he does not care, then there isn't too much you can do.

If he fancies a lot of fish, then my recommendation is to stick with small fish - gobies, jawfish, blennies, smaller clownfish and wrasses and maybe throw in one or two tangs as show fish. Then, he can have a lot of them without any issue.

That is what this if for. To ovid this guy to overstock and kill fishys.
Thanks for your inputs.

I would just say it makes things so much nicer when you don't have to worry about fish dying or killing each other. For some people, it may not be an issue of money, but I think everyone can take pride in being able to say how many years they have had each of their fish. This is much more likely to happen in tank that is well planned - that means good species selection list and balanced.

I agree with techgirl. Most people take pride in keeping fish alive but if he really wants to stock heavy tell him to filter as much as possible. Large fuge and big skimmer, plenty of live rock(organized to give plenty of hiding holes), pick fish that won't fight constantly and it might be ok.

its pretty impossible to advise someone that we know nothing about...... what does he like .... big fish like triggers? little fish like gobies..... something in between.

For a 250 gal tank, a hardy angel, 3 or 4 hardy tangs, a foxface and a couple of gobies.....

angels..... maculosus, tank bred is ideal
tangs.... yellow, purple, kole, regal (hippo)..... there are loads of other hardy ones.....
foxface can'be be beaten for show and hardiness
few gobies adn dwarf angels..... sulphur watchman gobies - pair and a flame angel and a cherub angel.

introduced in the right order, quaratined, and fed properly - and filtered properly as well as maintained water quality, that should be a hardy stocking list without too many problems......

Thanks everyone!!!
The main thing with this post is to avoid this guy to over stock, wich we had succes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot, the stoking is gona be close to Matt advicce, with 1 more tang on the list.

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alex - I haven't put alot of thought into that list..... it may be a good idea to sit down with your buddy, go through a few books or online photo's and make a out a list...... including purchase sizes and order of introduction...... we could then give much more definitiveand solid advice.

Meanwhile..... the above should start him in the right direcetion at least.....
