Stop the childish games

To the people who are "rebelling",
You guys need to grow up and stop acting like 5 year olds. It is clear some of you are not happy with RC, so just stop posting here then. Your actions of putting posts up to offend the RC mods make our club look foolish. If your not happy, leave, don't stomp your feet on the way out either. I, for one, appreciate RC since it's basically free and really has expanded our hobby, And gives us a place to share info, corals, etc.

Did you read my post? I don't think you understood my point. I read on the other site how certain people were going to go out with a bang, and just thougt it sounded like something my kid would do. They are trying to sabotage this club and thought it was rude. Parents somtimes have tell their kids not to ruin it for everyone, that was my point. Who cares if they move to another site, just don't be jerks about it.

I'd have to agree with ya there, if your not happy with the site don't use it. RC has been a great resource tool for many reasons, don't insult everyone just because you have some sort of gripe with it.

If you don't have anything nice to say......

RC didn't change any rules, some people just decided to break them. Even though some are funny rules, thats the way they play....

I will still be using this invaluable resource!

Seems like this is isolated to a select few individuals that have other agendas here on Reef Central....which are in contradiction to the rules at Reef Central...
let them leave and make fools of themselves in the process if they decide to!
Reef Central is an awesome place for information and coral swapping. Hopefully with these RC members gone, we can get back to discussions about the reef keeping hobby.

gossip........................... does any of this do any good?

When my 4 or my 8 year old daughters act up I try NOT to pay attention................. just my $.02

I like RC and what it has to offer. It's frustrating to see people in one geographical location go separate ways on forums and not utilize one common link to connect with each other, share info, swap frags, provide help, and talk reefing with someone you've actually seen in person instead of just talked to on the internet.

I don't know the full story behind the few that have been booted but RC rules are quite clear. I don't see any mods maliciously booting people because it's fun. When they boot someone it's highly likely that it's for a good reason. When they boot someone that's a loss of business and in this economy I don't think anyone is wallowing in business that they can afford to rid their company of customers just for the fun of it (unless the government is providing a stimulus package for them. LOL!!) Are you RC mods getting a government kickback that we don't know about!! LOL!!

As far as I can tell PCR was frustrated that the link to his build thread keep getting changed by the mods. His build thread is apparently on another reef forum and he kept linking it here. If I were running RC, I wouldn't want anyone advertising another reef forum on mine. Duh!! You can't blame RC for that. As for the others that got booted, I suspect they may be leaving out some significant details out of frustration to make RC look bad.

This is quite likely a significant split for the fox valley group of reefers. That's really a bad thing!! The more experience, members, and tanks in one common forum the better. At this point I use RC for it's vast members, experts, and huge amount of resources and references. I liked chatting and sharing info on this FVRC forum for a bit of a social outlet (with at least a few people I've seen face to face) but I use RC far more for gaining knowledge and dicussing hard core reefing issues on the other primary RC forums. I'll be damned if I leave RC over some childish tit for tat and to "take sides". RC is too beneficial to me. It's too bad the others don't see that.

Sorry to see those of you leaving the RC forums. It really is a loss for all of us.

Jeremy

In all, life goes on. I think there is enough of us that see the true benefit behind being on the RC threads. People will inevitably come and go. It is unfortunate when people make negative comments out of frustration (related to negative consequences from their own actions) and then other "sheep" follow right along singing the same song and dancing the same dance.

I've been following the FVRC forum for about 2 years now and I've really learned a lot about the people posting on the threads. I do find it's quite interesting how much more you can learn about someone if you just pick up the phone to say hi and discuss reefing (or anything else) in a more personal way vs just typing on a forum. Smilies are about the extent of emotion a person can put into typing on a forum and emotion in a discussion as well as tone of voice and other cues provide a significant amount of information about the dialogue itsself- basic sociology.

If you look at peoples posts, you can also quite easily see peoples true intentions behind their being on the forums that they're on. Some are here (FVRC RC forum) to make a profit (a few are here solely for personal financial profit - that may be good or bad depending on how you look at it), some are here to learn, some are hear to offer guidance, some are here to show off pics of their tanks, some just want to chat reefing with other reefers, and some are just here for the social interaction wether it be reef related or not. As I said previously, any individual whom is a part of this group and posts on this forum makes this forum that much better, but the people that left won't have a significant impact on how others benefit from this forum (only an opinion based on my own interpretation of why they were on this forum in the first place).

Hey, lets start a discussion about formalizing the FVRC!! That should really get people fired up. LOL!!!

Dear God, I'm only kidding. Please nobody start a thread on club formalization any time in the near future!!!

I guess I look at it like this. If you are happy here in a more strickly controlled forum....stay. If you want a little more freedom of speach and less censorship move on.

I don't have a beef with RC. I have been on the other forum almost since its inception. I really like it. Nothing is perfect and no one says you have to leave RC. But no one says you can not go to the other forum either. There are good people there as well as here. And most of you guys go to different sites already so I do not see what the big deal is.

I honestly do not post much because I am sick of reef drama. I seem to live it every day. I wasn't going to post in this one but I think some of you are missing the point. No one is asking you to leave. You are just being provided with another option. I have no intention to leave RC.

As for the supposed pettyness just leave that to the mods and the people involved. I am glad we have a club forum on the other site. It will do well. Much smaller and easier to get info. IMO

I agree with much of what you said Gooch. You made some very valid points. As people were leaving or being banned they made negative comments about RC and pretty much falsly indicated that the majority of people who are on the FVRC RC forum were jumping ship to the other forum and indicated that the rest of us should go also. You may have not made those statements but others have.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a part of more than one forum but if there is a common area/forum for local reefers (FRVRC reefers) to chat then it is better for the coordination of meetings, events, trading, selling, etc... For example, the fosters meet that Lisa has been setting up. If half of the FRVC people are only on one forum, and the rest visit both on occasion, it will be much more difficult to organize the event and provide everyone with the opportunity to participate. This is where I see the group splitting up a bit.

I think that PrisonCity and Siropa got banned.

I'm pretty sure Fred (RCS) got banned too.

I'm sure it will disappoint a couple of people here, but I didn't get banned. they just closed that thread I started.

I could not agree more, very well stated Jeremy!
