Stop the childish games

I'm sure it will disappoint a couple of people here, but I didn't get banned. they just closed that thread I started.


I dont think anyone wants people to be banned, my point was to stop making us all look petty and rude.
 
I have been a member of this site since 2001. Longer than most members have even had a tank. I obviously know the rules of the community. But this site has changed a lot over the years and not always in ways that benefit the hobbyist. Many of you do not realize all the benifits that have been taken away from us because you never had them. I think it is a large reason so many of the advanced or seasoned hobbyists go to other forums. RC doesn't serve a purpose for them. I look at two maybe three forums on RC now. After years of hobbyists asking the same questions over and over again the information sharing has become redundant. Do a search you say. Not unless you want to pay to play or log in at odd hours to get a search in. Like I said on smaller sites info is more readily available all the time and for free.

I remember years ago I was one of the first people to get a new MH pendant. I put pictures up here and was threatened with a ban. All I was truly doing was showing the new pendants. I got them from a sponsor on this site on top of it. I just thought it was cool that I actually got them before most people did. But I was guilty no matter what was said.

It wasn't long ago I was warned about talking up a local fish store. Seems people still think I own that store. Even though I only stop in about once every two weeks or so and at dead times so no other hobbyists on this forum see me(how sad is that). The real sad thing about it is that somebody on this club forum actually threatened the owners of that store to stop talking about themselves on RC. Even though the owners refuse to even have an account here. I hope I never run into that guy. He scares me with his pettyness. And he knows who he is. That is another reason I stay away and choose to be on another site more often than this one.

Trust me the F&S club meeting will get spread around as will any needed info. Some of the main info sharers are already at the other community.

And I do not think the actions of a few make the group look petty or rude. It makes that individual look that way.

I definately hear your point of view Gooch. I haven't been on RC as long as you have and haven't seen the changes you have. I like RC because of the large amount of experienced reefers to answer my questions on the other RC forums. I like the FVRC forum for the more personal conversations and social dialogue vs just questions and answers. I don't see as much significant experience and expertise for general reefkeeping on the other forums therefore I prefer to post my in depth questions and discussions on RC. I don't routinely visit other general reefkeeping forums either becuase the experiences I've had there have confirmed my thoughts that there are significantly less "experts" to answer my questions. I do visit one other forum routinely for very specific answers to questions that only those members can provide.

The only expert I ever met was Jeff at AI. Just ask him.

I didn't catch some of the other posts, but I thanked RC for hosting our club as long as they have. I don't know if that qualifies as 'stomping my feet,' but then again some folks are quick to make assumptions and the same text can be taken a couple ways from different people.

I was raised to say please and thank you, so I did. Apparently it wasn't appreciated.
 
I asked months ago.....Where are all the members??? Now you know what I was getting at. I don't post on RC for a number of reasons, some because of RC & some because of FVRC members. I still look from time to time and read the posts....but I got turned off long ago and use different forums now. Still a great place for info.....but!

I don't like conflict but I believe it was the way that you said thanks. "Thanks RC for hosting our club as long as you have" came off as you saying that you spoke for all of the club and most like to speak for themselves or just don't like change. Sorry if that rubbed you the wrong way but that's just my interpretation.
 
Wow I dunno how I missed all the drama again lol.
I usually check in every day and it's the same old posts so missed a few days and miss everything.

For me I'm like "whatever" Ive made alot of friends in our club and try to stay out of the drama on here usually but it is fun to read lol.

I can see now how it may have been taken that way. I apologize if anyone was offended by the wording. I did not intend to represent my opinion as the entire club's opinion.

Why can't we all just get along?every one has an opinion and has the right to do so, but I think this whole thing is petty and not worth the reading but i did,so act like a grown ups! Life is to short to not enjoy what you have and share what you can

I haven't posted in FOREVER since having our first child, but I didnt get banned/kicked out. Who wants some free corals my tank is overgrown!
