Stores like DD

Supposedly Aquatouch (a RC sponsor) has very intensive quarantine procedures as well. You can read about it on their website.

The do however quarantine their wysiwyg fish for 21 days. But this appears to consist of a small selection of rare and expensive fish only. Their main stock of fish does not seem to appear on the website and apparently are not quarantined.

I agree, nyaquatic has some good prices, but he does not quarantine the fish. I think that's what the OP was looking for.

Kevin is the best of the best............period..........I'd rather spend the extra cash knowing that I won't have to worry, and it's healthy & guaranteed!

Reguardless of previous QT'ing or not all new fish should be added to a QT upon arrival - no matter the source.

I buy a lot of fish from LADD and Kevin will even tell you to QT on arrival.

Kevin runs a top notch place in Wisconsin, second to none.

Reef Hot Spot offers a 14 day guarantee

Saltwaterfish dot com has a 15 day guarantee

It's becoming a standard for the online retailers if they want to compete for a large portion of the business.

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to clear up some comments...

at AquaTouch, we have a seperate and dedicated quarantine facility that ALL of our fish go through...not just the rare or collector's specimens.

The process is a minimum of 14 days and is applied to the least expensive of tank raised fish, to the most expensive of wild collected fish.

We have always reasoned that this was more controllable at giving a customer a legitimate shot at buying a healthy fish that could easily become a long-term pet, as opposed to just offering a fish replacement guarantee.

We have been doing it this way from when the original owners built the store in 1997.

Thanks for mentioning us!

All of which would be totally terrific if you offered a comparable guarantee to Reef Hot Spot, Divers Den, etc.
Your obviously high end clientele appreciate the quality of your process and are willing to pay for it. On the other hand, other high end vendors share the risk with the client so many will expect comparable from you.

Without getting too far into it it can be hard to offer the two week guarantee to all. Sorry to say a two week guarantee is made possible by the amount of sales compared to the amount of reported deaths among the fish shipped. I have dealt with every type of customer and client and take much pride in my capabilities and honestly with the best quarintine procedures I would not ever offer a two week guarantee to retail clients unless...i could afford to cover the deads, which is sad to say as this is how business goes, it's all about numbers and in turn diminishes some things, such as care amongst other things.

Yeah, I have no interest in buying from an on-line vendor that isn't going to offer the same guarantee as his competitors regardless of what they do at their facility to prep the fish.

LFS are a whole different story......I can see the fish in person & make a much more informed decision. If you do some repeat business most are willing to hold fish for a week or two to see how they are doing. In this case I don't need a guarantee as my decision is supported by my own personal evaluation of the fish at the store.

GCREEF.com is a good one, I am close to Corpus so I call them and have my nephew pick up my order. They raise there own Onyx Clowns, Cardinals, and Sea Horses. I don't think they have a 14 day guarantee, but of course I have never needed it. And to me that is what is important.
