Storing LS

So I am picking up 100 lbs of LS tonight from a member of the local reef club. The problem is that I only have an empty tank right now with a heater and a couple of powerheads. What is the best way to keep the sand live, or should I just let it die and seed it later with some new LS?

IMHO, put shallow layers it in a several bucket, fill them with saltwater, and use airbubbler for aeration and flow. I think this way life that is in LS will have all it needs for about a couple of weeks or so.
