Storing NSW

I've kept my NSW for up to 3 months with no issues. I get it from my local LFS though as opposed to directly from the ocean and they put it through a cleaning process before selling it to kill off as many inhabitants as possible.

I do however aerate and heat it for an hour before I use it.

But even if you did get H2S couldn't you then aerate for a while?

And wasn't it Moe that had me chlorinating it 30 years ago? Even chlorinated, HOB filtered and then left to settle there would be "dust" on the bottom. I haven't used NSW in almost 30 years. But I want to if I can get over being lazy... The ocean ifs full of the stuff and only a couple of miles away. Now I could run it up to 900mV for a couple of days and then aerate for a couple of days. After that it would be good for 1-2 billion years.

Yup, aeration will remove H2S fairly quickly.

Moe had both directions for chlorinating for instant use, as well as the store in the dark method in his books.

My favorite though, just turn on the tap at work and fill up a jug with NSW from our filtered SW well :D

I know this thread is old but I had a question about Nsw.
I have had about 300g in a storage tank for about 6 months with no movement.
What should I test for before using it? Should I use it?
Should I run a pump to aerate the water?

Run the pump to aerate, check salinity, pH, Ca, Mg, etc...the usual suspects ;) Should be good to go, might just to make some minor adjustments from any evaporation or precipitation.
