strange clownfish behavior

We have a pair of A. Ocellaris clowns that we have had for over a year, lately the male has begun acting strange. It isnt like spawning behavior. They host in a large frilly mushroom (since day 1) and for the last couple of days he has been sucking on the frills like he is nursing. This is a new thing , the female isnt doing it and other than that we havent noticed anything strange. Any ideas ?

Look closer at the frilly, maybe egg lay on it. Usually, the female does not do much and left it to the male to nurse for the egg.

I have looked , no signs of eggs or nesting, it doesnt look like spawning behaior at all to me compared to what we have seen in the past.
