Strange coating on seagrasses

I have two species of seagrasses in my tank, Manatee grass and Shoal grass. Both species have a strange coating on the blades. It looks cellular in nature and is white. I'm not sure what it is or if I should remove it. It looks like it's blocking light from reaching the plant.

Any ideas?

Can you take a pic?

There a couple of things that come to mind. Quite often older blades will get some interesting epiphytic growth such as tunicates. Some of which will look like small white segments. The other possibility is decaying older leaves being coated with bacterial/fungal growth. Odds are with the tunicates though.

Here ya go Bill. Any ideas?

Pics not good enough for ID purposes, but it does appear to be some kind of epiphytic growth.
