Strange Holes on Acropora

Last week I noticed this new (maricultured) hoeki colony had some sporadic tissue loss on different branches. The loss was slowly starting to spread so I fragged the colony but was able to only find one branch without tissue loss:( I checked all over for eggs and worms but did not find any. I did find a half dozen of these weird holes which I've seen on other acros that have STN'ed in the past. Is this a normal growth on acros or was there an external parasite that made this?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, those are dead barnacles. I had some that stayed alive for a long time. I ended up killing them with a toothpick because I didn't care for how it made my corals look. They didn't hurt the corals though.
