Strange shrooms?

So our LFS got this rock in and I cant figure out what they are. When you touch them, they do not close up like a polyp nor do they retract in to anything. They just shrivel up a bit like a mushroom coral. They are the same color as PurpleDeath Zoas, but much bigger and thicker. Should I buy them just for the hell of it?

those dont look like mushrooms to me, they kind of look like a blasto and palythoa mixed into one...

Yeah thats what I thought at first. But they arent growing out of anything and dont retract. They stay puffy even when poked at or ****ed off.

Another picture with all lights turned on.

These sound like nasty little beasts. You should get rid of them as fast as you can. I'll send you an address, and you can send them to me.

They look like what Dr. Mac has at pacificeast aquaculture. Her calls the sea foam palys. If you go look you can compare. To me they look like some funky blasto morph. I would email colin at coralmorphologic he will be able to tell you for sure.

Thanks sks4613

I think the Seafoam palys are what looks like paly grandis but slightly smaller? If so these things are much bigger, they are the same size as Paly Grandis but much thicker and do not close up like a zoanthid.

I was about to say the same. I've got a rock with something that looks exactly like that. They are growing and now seem to be rock anemones.

I would go and get that rock if you like them. Mine are getting a bit bigger and they get cooler as time goes by. They have also stayed on the rock that they cam in on with the exception of 2 that I pealed off for a trade.
