Strange white film on top of waterline.

The last 3 or so weeks I have noticed a strange white film on top of the surface of my tank. Last night I think I finally discovered what this is. I believe I witnessed my blueline & bluespot spawning. They were doing the "dance" right after lights went out & the bluespot raised to the top with the blueline nudging the belly. I noticed the bluespot spreading it's fins to the max & shaking it's tail as fast as can be directly in front of the blueline to get it's attention. To bad nobody's figured out how to raise them they would make an awesome hybrid. I'm going to try & video tape the ritual but they usually stop when they see me approach.

That would be worth setting up a video camera on a tripod or on a box or something and point it at the tank and walk away, then edit the video later to just include the spawning part.

Do you have a sump? I would think most films on the top would quickly flow into an overflow and be processed in the sump.

I do have a sump & overflows. But this "film" still stays on top of the water. It eventually will thin out after a few days.
