Stray voltage from reefpack 500

I am getting stray voltage in my tank from the skimmer on my Reefpack 500! After completing a water change recently, I plugged the reefpack back in and when I put my hand in the tank got jolted. Any ideas as to what might be causing this and or how to resolve the problem?
Thank you

How old is it? It could be that the cord is damaged, it is also possible that something else is emitting the stray voltage and the pump is just grounding it and completing the circuit. I have also seen it happen where a circuit has a hot ground reversal and the ground strap in the pump is then carrying in voltage. I would send it in for us to test, if it is less than 2 years old and the cause is not cord damage or something outside the pump it will be replaced under warranty.

The unit is about one year old. I will do some more investigating and then send you the unit if I can't find the source.

The best way to isolate the pump is to test it in a bucket of water on its own. I would use a volt meter, just drop the red lead in the bucket and hold the black lead to a ground (cold water faucet, ground pin on an outlet, grounding rod).
