Stray Voltage Question

I hooked my voltage meter up to the tank and I'm measuring .5 voltz going through the water. Is this a problem? Is there a threshold or is any voltage too much?

there is no set number....but .5volts is not that much. You should also measure how many amps. Based on my experince this is nothing to worry about.
