stream alarm

Roger,

I was awaken in the middle of the night by the sound of my Stream 6100 alarm. The unit had stopped. I unplugged it and checked the pump this morning. There was nothing jammed in it and there was no deposits on the magnet of the impeller. When the unit is plugged in the alarm sounds. What do you think the problem is?

Check the magnet for cracks. Check that the brake shoes operate properly- the instruction manual illustrates how the should ratchet in and out. Make sure the impeller well is clean. Check that the upper bearing as illustrated in the manual (part at the bottom of the impeller well) is not foulded with lime- these parts have to move smoothly on each other. Also be sure water has not entered the driver (blue box). I know of no other causes besides a drive unit problem or a short caused by water damage to the blue driver box. If you cannot find the cause yourself you can send it to me for repair.

My alarm won't stop either, I believe it is the drive box because I tried my other drive box and the stream worked fine. How do I go about sending it in for repair, and if it is toast, how much does it cost to replace one? Thanks, Jon

Well, as long as it isn't water damage it would be warranty. If it is water damage it is $86.98. If you like send it to me but it is best to include the pump, otherwise you may encounter some difficulties, sometimes a new driver may need adjustment.

Ok great, how can I tell if it is water damage or not? Could you please PM your address so I can send it in. I will remove the pump also if you thiiink it is best. Thanks
