Stream in a closed weir

Hello, i am thinking of putting my stream hidden in weirs in my next tank, like this:

so have the weir in a hidden off bit of the tank that has the combs at the top and bottom, so the tank water level will be the same all the time.

What im wondering is do you think it would be best to silicon some of the rail holders (the ones that come with the streams) to the side of the tank and then hang it off this, and have a hole in the side of the closed weir, or would it be best to have a hole the perfect size so the stream fits snugg into this and held up?

I would just get the 55mm Coupler that holds the Stream. I am pretty sure it is 55mm but double check.
