I realize my topic seems fuzzy at best but, I was wondering how fast the stream of water on a stream pump widdens? For example, one foot from the outlet.

This wouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be hard to test. Make a circular loop out of coat hanger wire and loosely attach some light objects to it. My first try would be with small flags made from Teflon plumbers tape. Place it at different distances from the Stream and observe the flow. Make it so it expands easily to other diameters to more accurately determine cone size at different distances.
I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t believe that the cone expands as much as weââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢d hope for. I have a large stringy rose quadricolor on my rock wall. It is at about the same height as the Stream located on one end of my tank. The quad is about three feet downstream from the pump and about nine inches further back in the tank than the dead center of the pump. The constant current that moves the anemoneââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s tentacles moves them toward the pump, NOT away from it. There is a 9 inch high gorgonian on the bottom of the tank that is now (permanently) bent toward the pump. The explanation is that while the water inside the cone moves away from the pump, the water outside the cone moves toward it.
For a while last year I had alternating ReefTec units in the ends of the same tank. As they alternated on and off the anemone and gorgonian would both sway away from the pump that happened to be on at the time. Those units apparently had wider cones than the Tunze units. Unfortunately, the pumps that were adapted to power them lacked reliability in this application.
It is roughly a cubic formula- at about 1ft away 1' wide at about 2' away 2' wide. I cannot give exact data as we have no tests for this but that has been my general observation.
