Streams - a couple questions again

Hi Roger,

I think a couple final questions here, if you could help.

Would 4 streams be too many on my 180? They'd all be placed near the surface - one on each side and two on the back pointing to the front?

I've integrated 4 seios into the rockwork shooting in and between everything and running a md70rlt return on two sea swirls shooting down into the reef.

Would two be better instead with this configuration?

How close to the surface can they be placed? I do have a fine sandbed would it get blown crazy?

TIA again.

I would start with 2, this is plenty in most cases. 2 6100.

Back to front is not a good choice as the flow diffuses so much as to be almost useless if it bounces straight off a surface. It is best to have the flow hit at a gentle angle to deflect it.

Just be aware the pumps will need maintanence. I would be sure you can access our pumps as well as the Seios. They have to be cleaned or they can burn out.

The 6100's could be placed about 6" from the surface, the effect on the sand bed will depend on the maturity of the sand bed, rock positioning and pump positioning.

Thanks Roger.

I'll go with the two 6100s then, how about placing one on each side of the tank shooting the 6' distance across - pointed at each other?

I can get to the seios easily and the streams mounted near the top will also be easy access. Thank you for your concern here.

I have some corals that will be just beneath the stream at 6" from the surface, they're not mounted either. Will it blow them off the rocks?

Thanks.

It would be best to mount the corals and you will need to slowly increase the flow rate so the corals can adapt.

You could try that position, positioning is largely trial and error and I can't do more than give general suggestions.

Got it. Roger, are the magentic mounts available now...or still backordered? I have 1/2 inch acrylic, what magnet should I go with, is the bigger one better?

I am not sure. I would try the different dealers and see. The 6080.50 will do the job.
