I have gotten many different responses of y my zoas reach towards the light. Not all do it only my larger colony.I have moved the colony to different locations in my tank but still the same outcome.

What type of lighting do you have on the 125... Most of the time it is because they want more light, well that is at least what i always thought...

Some zoas just extend like that. I have a colony that either in the sandbed, or 5 inches below the surface look like that. They are under two 250W DE MH lamps.
Here's a pic:

If these are light deprived, why do they look the same at the top of my tank guys?
These are in my 65. They are located 8 inches from the light. I have 2 250W DE MH lamps on top of them. How much more light should I give them?
See the length of them. These do not get shorter in higher light.
Some zoas just have long stems to them.

How can we tell thats on the top of your tank?? They look light deprived to me.
Maybe get new bulbs??

YOU MAY HAVE LOW PAR LAMPS. IF YOU GO OVER 10,000K YOUR PAR FALLS OFF VERY FAST. BUT IF YOU LIKE THE BULE LOOK THIS IS WHAT YOU GET.

I have some zoas that were reaching for light under a 175W. Once I bumped up to 250W, after aclimating with a screen, they still stretched for a week or two. It may take some time at the top of the tank for them to settle down.

what kind of zoas are those in the picture?
i have some but dont know what they are

Look at Pennies from Heaven on zoaid.

Polyp elongation isn't always due to a lack of lighting, spectrum or par, often, as stated above, it's chractoristic of that particular polyp to simply be longer than others. The disc looks normal and healthy as well as the color and the skirt extension. I wouldn't worry at all about them. Just my 2 cents.

a agree with some just have long bases. i have like 50 morphs my self and one of them has a long base. doesnt matter where i place them high low they just have a long base. i had pc lights before i change over to 2x175 MH and some of my zoa's had long bases. seems after the change most of them have shorten their based all except these one "Indonesia hot pinks" which have alwas had long shirts in my bro's 8x54 t5 and my 2x175.

here is a picture of 3 of them. i have a colny of more then a 100 heads all have long bases.
