Study on fish ability to learn

An old college professor of mine had the guppies in his office trained to go to one corner of the tank when he rang a bell :lol:
 
That was a good read. A bit odd at the end though, trying to explain the bright fish colors with the cleaner wrasse. Kinda dropped off at the end
 
Yeah I didn't understand why they even discussed cleaner wrasse, I guess because they were testing their color abilities, but the fish learning was very interesting. The little video was funny to see the damsel hit the spot and then quick turn around ready for some food.

right. And I don't feel it was related to the actual story at all.
 
I think they brought up the cleaner wrasse business as an example of the reasons why fish would have evolved both the striped color pattern and the ability to recognize colors and patterns. They wanted to show that the fish in the experiment were using a capability that they also use in the wild.
