Stuff to get at the Frag swap or sooner...

hold off on the glass scuba steve,,, im going to need to get the tank first so i know what sizes to get...

Paul/Dawn - yes i still need need the pump and the float valve would be great.... how exactly do you mount a float valve like that? do i need to drill?

Eric check your PM about the sand...

Thanks all...

nobody has an AGA 29 or 30 laying around?

what size tubing fits over the intake side of the SCWD? im looking to buy my misc items all at once so i dont have to pay shipping from Big Als more than once... i figured i could run flexible tubing from the quiet 1 up to the scwd and then run pvc from there out to the tank...

You would have to modify the scwd to have it hard plumbed with pvc. If you are able to do this, let me know what you did and what modifications work.... and if it leaks :)

hehe well im basically copying a guys design from nanotank.com he is supposed to get me a parts list soon of what pvc i would need to plumb it with...

but still what size flexible tubing do i need so that i can order it... is 1" I.D. too big? because that seems to be best for keeping the flow up...

while checking my S.G. today with my swing arm hydrometer i came to wonder if anyone has a refractometer for sale... just wondering...

Mike, you can just use short pieces of flex tube connected to threaded barbs and then to the pvc. I think the SCWDs are a good idea, but I don'tlike the fact that the pipe diameter is reduced to less that 1/2".

but at the higher flow the scwd is "supposedly" 90% efficient so really its not a huge deal...

i can use this:
http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=FT6744

to connect the vinyl tubing to the loc-lines i bought today right?

ive decided to avoid PVC and ghetto rigging and use flexible tubing wherever possible and then connect it to Loc-Line stuff i bought today: which by the way is WAY too expencive..

I will be going to the swap on Sunday..

I'm looking for a 65-70 gallon tank with stand. In particular im looking for a tank that is low wide and long.

36*24*20 are my ideal dimensions, but anything in that general shape. Also looking for a small 30-40 gallon cube. Any one got this stuff.

I cant wait for the swap. See everyone out there. I'll probably be the only person there wearing a shirt and tie, since I'll be going during my working hours!! Say hello if you see me!!!

i still need a 29 gallon tank... i measured my stand and a 36" wide tank wont fit by aboout 1/2" - 3/4"

so it has to be a 29 unless someone has a custom tank that they are selling cheap... if anyone has one please bring it down to the swap.

Thanks to everyone at the swap... i got everything i need except the float valve (Daywn has one for me though) and the 29 gallon tank... no luck on that at the swap... here are some pics of the new setup in case anyone was interested in seeing it...

temporary sump/fuge area until i get the 29 and put baffles in it

that large rock on the far far right of the tank is an AWESOME show piece and at the normal rate of $6+ a lb it was worth the 30 bucks i paid for the whole box of rocks... it is going to become the center arch of my tank.. its about 11 inches long and arches up 5-6 inches almost in a perfect arc with holes big enough to set a branch of frogspawn or a tabling acro in... im still deciding..

Matt, if you want some liverock for cheap, let me know, i'll help you out with the stuff i have extra in the sump. Totally cured, just smaller pieces. JOHNNY

i dont think ive ever heard of rock being cheaper than the rock i got from you man... thanks so much..

Let me wait until this gets some bacteria growing through it and i setup the display the way i want it... if i feel i need more rock ill let you know...

i will DEFINITELY be stopping by your place next time i am on a coral shopping spree... i have your eBay store on my favorites and check it regularly... do you usually have large amounts of corals at your place that arent listed on the store? it seems like you two had 100x the variety of your eBay store at the swap...

Hey Matt, I was reading a post you had up in the nano section and you were talking about putting about 25lbs of LR in the display and the rest in the sump. I would put more in the display and whatever you have left in the sump. Trust me, it looks a lot better!

Stacking rocks is a hard job, but someone has to do it. lol... I was inspired to use tonga branch at the buttom by another member. It lets water flow under the rocks, behind them and best of all NO dead spots!!!

BTW thats about 40lbs + in my 29 display. I have another 20lbs+ in the sump/refugium. Oh yeah, if you do weekly waterchanges I would avoid putting a DSB or even sand in the refugium. Just add cheato and LR.

Thats just my advice, but you can do whatever. :)
