Stunning new flame x ?

What a fish! I could say it a hundred times... what a friggin' fish! Looks almost 100% to be a bispinosa loriculus hybrid... the face screams bispinosa... the striping on the body clearly shows the second species was loriculus... input from loriculus can also clearly be seen in the posterior section of the dorsal and anal fin... and the caudal fin is loriculus with the blue edge of bispinosa... wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:celeb1: bispinosa/ferrugata hybrids are similar but show less striping and no yellow like that showed in the tail of this fish...

ahhh thats not a hybrid..... there was a thread a while back about a guy that went to a convention and guy had a fish exactly like this...what i remember of the thread he showed pictures from a book that was in japanese, like closely related to the flame angel... for the life of me i cant remember that thread....maybe someone can chime in...

I was the guy... and this was the thread... although that's a different fish than this one...

I could be way off, but I see Shepard's x Coral Beauty, more than Flame x CB. But, Im not a dwarf expert...

shepardi bispinosa hybrids are documented, but different, and there is no collection now in shepardi's range... the resemblance to shepardi is a coincidence because shepardi itself is a loriculus hybrid also in my opinion... :)

WOW! Just beautiful.

Where is John Coppolino (Copps) on this one?

By the way, what is the Majestic Hybrid in your avatar Myerst2?

the majestic in myers avatar is just an aberrant and not a hybrid... although majestics hybridize with bluefaces to make a wicked looking fish! :fish1:

I thought C. shepardi at first too, but I will defer to John's judgement on this issue.
Its a FlamexCB angel. Beautiful, though I'm not big on hybrids & intergrades. But on beautiful fish, that is another matter!

I did some detective work and this fish actually went through a Hawaiian wholesaler... so most likely it is from the Marshall Islands... or potentially Christmas Island... both locations have loriculus and bispinosa and both ship large amounts to Hawaiian wholesalers... oh... and the fish, at today's exchange rate... is selling for $3,874.15 American dollars...:celeb1:

I'll post a photo (or a photo of a photo) of a hybrid majestic/ blueface this weekend...

Cha ching!! :D

For a mutt????! I know its beautiful, but neither parent is what you call rare IMO. Unless it was an extremely rare natural species I wouldn't spend that much cash on a Centropye, much as I love Angels.. Just my OP mind you, its still a beautiful fish.

What do you think thins flame had an affair with? A potters or a beauty? T

Granted both parent species are very common but the hybridization of the two is not. It is a gorgeous fish, one of the best looking flame hybrids I have seen without a doubt. I can see it fetching that cash overseas....

Interesting angle. I assume this fish was hard to photograph? I love how the light reflects off the edges of the fins.

As mentioned above, this is a photo of a photo... and not my fish... another very rare hybrid of two very common species... like the Centropyge shown in this thread... :)
