Awesome fish!! Thanks for keeping your promise John.;)

Yes, of course I meant its parents. This might be a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
Ok, if its WC I'll give that do you. Eventually, though someone will be Captive spawning these if they look THAT good most of the time. Well, whenever they get serious about that..
John: OK, what are that fish's parents? Narvarchus & Yellow-face????

Matthew

I was kinda of being facetious there John. Besides, many mutts are better than the whole breed dog. Of course, we are talking fish here, not dogs.
So my guess was correct?

Matthew

I did some detective work and this fish actually went through a Hawaiian wholesaler... so most likely it is from the Marshall Islands... or potentially Christmas Island... both locations have loriculus and bispinosa and both ship large amounts to Hawaiian wholesalers... oh... and the fish, at today's exchange rate... is selling for $3,874.15 American dollars...:celeb1:

I'll post a photo (or a photo of a photo) of a hybrid majestic/ blueface this weekend...

True, and the price in HI wasnt cheap to begin with.

When my cichlids bred with other relatives no one wanted the babies. Funny that saltwater is the opposite. I used to have plenty of electric blue and electric yellow hybrids. I had to cull them because no one wanted a "Mutt". :(

Naturally occuring rare hybrids vs artificial recreatable hybrids

A year after they were introduced and everyone on the forum had one, yeah, they'd lose a lot of their appeal. Flames look great but I just cant bring myself to buying one because their overpopularity takes away something special in my opinion.

That is what hawaiian flames are for. And yeah that is why freshwater cichlids hybrids aren't as popular because it is easy to get them and hard to get nice wild fish. In saltwater it is hard to find hybrids, but easy to get nice wild pure fish, so the demand for them is different. People want what they can't have or at least can't easily have.
