Stupid clowns

I have recently bought a pair of false percs. A paired male and female. As soon as I got them in the tank they started hosting on of my powerheads. So as soon as I noticed that I went and got a elegance coral however the male is still hosting the powerhead. Will he ever change hosts? Thanks

Hahah I thought I was the only one with clowns that host a powerhead..
They have been in the tank for about 6mths now.

I have a bubble tip, large cataphyllia, hammers and they show no interest in them at all. They love the powerhead and the side of the tank.

Mine will hang out behind the powerhead from time to time but I think it's just a way for him to take a break from the flow. If you have allot of flow this may be the reason.

Do you have any large fish in your tank? i have noticed mine will host the powerhead and have a quick escape to behind the overflow box because my darn trigger bullies the heck out of them. I have a RBTA and they will show interest until the trigger comes out and they head right back the the PH. Cant wait to catch the trigger to get him out of there.

Elegance coral is actually not the best host for clownfish. Elegance corals tend to be delicate anyway, and the clowns' rubbing against them often causes injuries and (often fatal) infections. This can happen with other LPS too. Better substitute hosts for clownfish are leather corals like Sarcophyton "toadstools" or polyps like mushrooms or zoas. You'll find that clownfish have their own minds when it comes being hosted anyway...you can offer them hosts, but there's no guarantee they'll take you up on it.

I was wondering what type of clowns aren't hosting for you guys, I have b+w occies.

I think once they have chosen a place to host they are less likely to move to a Nem.

Once they've found something to host the only way to get them away from it is to either move the object of their affections or get the naturally preferred anemone for them. My perculas were hosting a BTA when I put a ritteri in the tank. They couldn't leave the BTA fast enough when they saw that ritteri.
