Stupid Fragging

Well i have a frag of Radioactive Dragon eyes and they were growing over the side of the plug on my frag rack. So i decided to attempt to frag the ones coming down the side. Well now i think i just wasted 10 polyps.

I used a new razor and scraped the mat off the plug and glued it to a rock. I'm about two days in and not one of the fragged polyps has opened. i suck at this :furious:

Practice practice practice...although I have never fragged a coral before I am sure it isn't the absolute easiest thing in the world to do.

Is the glue touching near the top of the corals, is there something that is irritating them and keeping them from opening?

typically doesn't take a week to open back up-I'm assuming you put them right near where they were?
Definitley when fragging polyps though, the best method isn't to cut the polyps much, it's to scrape off whatever they're attached to, such as a thin layer of coralline they've grown on or even the outer layer of the rock. If you're cutting the actual polyp, not at all surprising to have longer heal times.

Also-did you dip them before putting them back in tank? for polyps I use a stong mix of revive and lugol's solution, seems to do wonders for them.

I wouldn't worry too much yet at only two days post-frag. If you ****ed them off enough, it might take a little longer for them to open back up.

well, the one set opened up that i put on a frag plug. the other set that i put on a piece of new rubble rock didn't open though. it looks like it died off. i must have done something wrong to that set

Thats great! Just carefully recall what you did to one that you didn't do to the other and you are well on your way!

i think the ones i fragged onto the rocks were from the side of the plug. maybe the razor cut them and i didn't see it
