Stupid question about a canopy

Hey I am going to be doing a canopy setup for my 75 once I move it out of inwall. I am now curious how you guys have it sitting on the tank? I plan on having a T5 light fixture on the tank so wouldn't need such a high canopy. Any ideas or links to see how people do their canopy would be great. Thanks.

Nm about the stupid question, all I had to do was a search :).

Weird view but I have cleats all the way around that rest on the tank and are positioned a few inches into the canopy to hide the tank trim.

Hi,

I have a base that sits permanently on the top of the tank and the hood plus lights are mounted to the base with a big long hinge. Gives easy access to the top of the tank and lights for feeding, cleaning, ect.

I used feet or cleats on mine as well. One thing you want to keep in mind is that water will wick into the wood eventually. You want to be sure that you do everything in your power to seal the wood and any end grains with some sort of finish. I used 5 coats of high quality exterior primer & paint on mine.

Let me know if you want to see it. Also, it will be up for sale (hopefully soon) when I get the 125 up and running.
