whats the difference between a T12 ballast and a T5 ballast?

And can you use a T12 Ballast on T5's?

Wattage usaully. The t-12 ballast are generally rated for something like 28w t-8s are rates for 32w and I believe a 48" t-5 or good for 50w or close, so the answer would be, no, not the same. You will probably ruin the ballast or the lamp or both.

Something that i thought was wow, nice to know (prob. will sound lame to others) is that the T-rating is how many 1/8ths of an inch the bulb is.
