stupid tank

not sure why, but my tank is ran off of a cpr overflow, and cpr 30 gallon sump, it keeps overflowing randomly, the sump empties back up into the tank leaving about 20 gallons of water on the floor, any idea what would be causing this, only thing i could think of was the overflow is getting air in it

If you drill an air hole in the sump line inside the tank just under the water line. as tank emties line will loose vacuum and quit draining.

Had the same exact issue with my 90 running a CPR overflow. Concept was great...but even with an Aqualifter, I still ran into the occasional issue which just ticked off the wife.

Best bet around it, is to get rid of it. I haven't had one issue with my overflows that are drilled...sorry.

Get rid of that overflow and get either an eshopps overflow or a lifereef overflow. You will have no problems. Or stop by glass - holes.com and pick yourself up an overflow kit. Put your big boy pants on and start drillin!

i have the highest flow cpr overflow too. i get debris that gets in the inlet and stops the proccess (no more suction). im about to drill mine, but scared to death on a 180 fully set up. perhaps when my 300 lbs. of agracrete is fully cured and ready to add i'll strip it down and drill it. just afraid of blowing a hole in something this expensive... ok im scared of my wife's wrath actually lol. think i'll look that up now how to do it. or anyone with history on drilling a set-up tank lemme know pls!

*not going on a vacation because of this issue is really getting to me* :headwallblue:

+1 If going with a hang-on overflow, the u-tube (eshopps or lifereef) style are much more reliable than the CPR type. They willl never form an air bubble in the u-tube with adequate flow. GL!
