submersible pressure rated recomm.

Any suggestions for a pressure rated pump that is internal and similar in rating to an Iwaki 55?

The strongest submersible pump that is good under pressure that I know of is the Eheim 1262.

Well, Gex-X is supposed to have a massive submersible pump, but I've never seen if for sale. You can see the specs at Pacific Coast Import's website. However, I'd be worried about heat.

Another good submersible pump for pressure is the Sen 9000, but it is noisy.

Bottom line is that you probably won't find a submersible pump to match the best of the external ones (like the Iwaki).

there are no pressure rated pumps that are internally

ehiem are good internal pumps

On my old skimmer the AquaC EV400 the Mag 24 performed equally to the Iwaki 55 (approx 6-8 ft og head). I guess it really depends on the head pressure you are giving the pump because at some point the submersible pump will always secumb to the higher head pressure.

The reason I was asking is that I have a ETSS 800 and it calls for either a 40 or a 55 Iwaki. I'm using a mag12 right now but I think I'm not giving it enough water. I have a 40 that came with it but I'm not plumbed for an external pump. I use a stock tank for a sump and would have to "up and over" the pump intake.

DrBDC,

try to do the up and over the top, you will be much happier, flow pumps fall short when compare to a pressure rated on when pressure is required for performance,

have you seem the difference in the impeller :D

you can do what I did with my etss and put in on the shelf in the garage. ( I always hate to throw away something I paid good money for.)

Then purchase a needle wheel skimmer that is nice and quiet. Like Deltec, asm, bubbleking.

down draft skimmers do work well if you have a really strong pressure pump. The trade off is noise and electric.

I'm pretty sure a mag 24 would do the job. I know the mag 24 only drew approx 125-130 watts when running my skimmer. The pump actually drew less than the rated wattage because of the head pressure.
