Substate or no substrate ?

I am putting together a 75 gallon reef tank. I saw a pic of a reef aquarium without substrate. If i want to have a reef setup primarily with coral ,would no substrate work as well as without? It seems detritus would be easier to control without it .

I have a BareBottom and love it! It takes a little more cleaning, but I think it looks better when clean. It's personal preference really. Be prepared for a lot of strong opinions both ways. Good luck with what you decide.

Isn't it harder to keep your parameters in order? My friend has it and there is always something wrong.

I am thinking of doing the same but a friend suggested that I paint the bottom sand color so it looks like sand anyway
I was thinking I would like to put about a 1/2" os concrete to make it look like arock bottom
Good luck with your choice
they bouth look very good when you are looking at the corals

I haven't had any issues with my param's. I do a 20% water change every other week, and everything stays stable.
