Substrate for lps

I'm planning a new tank that's 6' 125gallons. I am planning on doing VHO or HO. My main concern is the substrate. I want to use a couple of Tunze streams on a multicontroller. I've always had DSB, but on a shallow tank such as this, I'm afraid the sandstorms would never subside. BB is an option. What are your thoughts.

TIA,
Kevin

i've seen pics on RC of a guy's DSB sps tank. what ends up happening is the sand forms dunes, some spots are really high +1-3in and others get dug out -1-3in. In an LPS tank you may have high flow, though probably not as high as an SPS tank, I would think it would come out something like the tank i mentioned. In my opinion it would work out fine, you should just find some pics to see what im talking about, to see what it will look like.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like the dune look. I might just have to go in uncharted territory on this tank with barebottom for myself.

There are at least several BB tanks that primarily/exclusively house 'lps' type corals. Sorry, but I cannot find them ATM.

dsb

dsb

Dont go with dsb if you plan on having flow..........I have dsb and it is driving me crazy........I am going to put something alittle heavier in with it

I have a DSB and 6000+ gph of flow in my 58 gallon, so you're doing something wrong, because its totally possible to have tons of flow in a DSB tank.

Well i don't think flow is all that troublesome in deeper tanks. A 125 6' tank is pretty shallow. That is where I think I will run into trouble.

i think ur guna have issues with the sand blowing around

i have a ssb in my 180 which is 6'x2'x2' and my sand blows around some and forms little dunes but my bottom glass doesnt show anywhere

i have 40x's turnover in my tank but i think with anymore than that it start causing a sand storm
