Greetings all:
Installing an in wall unit. Custom tank cut to fit 68w x 30h x 24d. All black back and sides â€"œ only clear is viewing side and top. I want to keep the pattern with black sand and herein lies the question. There is no absolute “best†method established for substrates. Some love deep sand beds â€"œ others hate it. Some have crushed coral. Bare bottom has come of age. All present their unique “pros†and “cons†of each method. My initial thought is to load the rock bare bottom and add 2†or so of sand. This prevents compression of the sand by about 500 lbs of rock offset by an increase time factor for the biochemistry to develop. I’d appreciate your experienced comments. What say you? Thx
