Ok folks I am completely stumped as to what is going on in my tank. It is a 135 gallon tank with roughly 150 gallons of water in the system. Starting yesterday AM I noticed two of my colonies had very poor polyp extension, both pieces have been in the system for 8 months and were doing great as of Friday day night. Now this morning (Sunday) I noticed that about 7 pieces are having poor polyp extension plus one of my zoanthid colonies is looking poor. I tested everything today and my parameters are pretty much dead on, I will post them below. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I did a solid flashlight inspection of the tank last night and did not see any pests on any of my SPS so I am lost as of right now. Stray current maybe? I checked my heaters and both look fine but they are unplugged right now just in case.
Parameters:
KH - 8.5 Elos (verified with API and 10mL of water)
CA - 420 Elos
MG - 1350 Elso
Nitrate - 5 API
Nitrite - 0 API
Ammonia - 0 API
PH - 8.09 to 8.25 in the last 24 hours via APEX (swings no more than .5)
Temp - 77 to 78.1 in last 24 hours via APEX
Orp - 350 No Orp controler in place
Salinity - 35 PPT via refractometer, (tested, calibrated, tested)
Recent changes:
Tang was caught in the overflow last Saturday 6-5 and we had to remove the standpipe to get him out, this caused the sediment in the overflow to dump into the sump. I added a filter sock and did a water change on Sunday 6-6 (I had one planned anyway)
New salt, I switched from Seachem Reef Salt to Aqua Vitro Salinity for my last water change on 6-6
Added a chiller that I purchased from another reefer on 6-6.
I also had the ballast for my refugium go out in early May so my deep sand bed/refugium was dark for about 3 weeks, that is now back on it's normal lighting schedule with a 150 watt 6700K Metal Halide on an opposite cycle from my display.
I could write a novel here but I am not sure anyone would want to read it! I can provide more info to anyone that has questions. I didn't include an equipment list because none of that has changed, I can throw one in a reply if anyone wants it.
Thanks in advance for any help and thanks for taking the time to read this.
