Suddenly have red slime?

Clear mesh won't do much to block the light. Fiberglass window screen material does a great job. But first I would be sure you know the light is too intense and there isn't something else going on, and I would basically consider this separate from the red slime fight (I'm on Gary's wavelength - don't blame the lights. Fix the nutrient problem.)

Just a thought here. I want to move the tank to my bedroom night stand so I will be able to hang the light. When I move it I'm going to take all the rocks out and fish. When I take all the rocks out I will clean them all off and when I put the water back in I put half fresh saltwater in. Could this help the tank at all? If I do a deep cleaning of it? And maybe I can see if the Goby is in there? (doubt he, prolly decomposed by now) I also want to change the scape of the rocks to utilize the flow a bit better. Right now I have good flow but it's not directed properly bc crap settles on the sand. Just wanted to bounce it of your guys brains

specific gravity 1.026 (SG) = 35ppt salinity

MUST be measured accurately. How do you measure yours?

Raise SG to 1.026 to maximize protein skimming.

Simply raising SG to 1.026 is NOT a "cure"

It was all dry rock from bulk reef supply.

I moved the tank to my bedroom tonight and in the process I did not come across my hi fin red handed goby I thought maybe he was hiding in a rock but still no sight of him. Maybe that's what threw my tank for a loop. Two fish dying? Idk what they could have possibly died from though..

My husband made me a little stand to raise up the light. I will keep an eye on how the corals respond to the light being further away. Some of the zoas look a little bit happier. PO4 testing still pending. Been a super busy week with thanksgiving and all :/
