Hello all,
I am new here and I appreciate all the great info that everyone posts here.
I just purchased my second crocea clam. The first one I had was about 5" and was doing very well in my tank for several months. It was then that I bought a bi-color angel
The angel nipped and nipped at the clam which stressed it heavily. It also started to loose some of it's color. I found out later (as the clam's health deteriorated) that my thermometer was broken and my salinity readings were off also. My tank had gotten up to a SG of about 1.032 and my temp up to about 90 deg F. Frankly, I don't know anything survived but I was having a lot of problems. Well I finally got all my params back into check and got rid of the angel but the clam eventually died. (big surprise?
)
Now I just bought a new one that is small, about 2.5" and I have had him at the bottom of my tank since Friday trying to acclimate him.
I have a 29g tank that is 18" deep and I am running a 150W MH with a 15K XM bulb. The tank this clam came out of at the LFS was running I believe a 400W MH 20K bulb about 12" above a tank that was 10-12" deep.
Should I have enough light if I place the clam near the top of the tank? I assume it should be as my previous one did fine until all of these other issues. Sorry for being so long winded.
