Sugestions for a camera for apx $250

[Pulp Fishin]

Just like the title says I'm in the market for a new camera.
I'm sick of the tried old pics I'm getting right now and looking for a upgrade.
I concider myself a jack of all trades and master of none, but photpgraphy isn't a habby I have much experiance in. In fact if you count out taking pics then I have no experiance to speak of.
Any sugestions for what I should keep my eye open for?

Canon SX100IS is a good Point and shot near that price. As os the A720
