Looking for additions to my peaceful 180 reef tank... current inhabitants:

  • Magnificent Foxface
  • Yellow Tang
  • Hippo Tang
  • Leopard Wrasse
  • Mystery Wrasse
  • Yellow Coris Wrasse
  • Diamond Goby
  • Engineer Goby
  • Longnose Hawkfish

Also have a coral banded and cleaner shrimp.

Any suggestions?

Genicanthus angels! I have a pair of swallowtail angels and they they don't bother anything.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm definitely not going to do a Clown Tang in there. Also going to pass on any trigger, anymore hawks, or butterflys.

A few of the suggestions have me interested:

  • Orchid Dottyback - I love the bold purple color, have heard worrisome things about aggression. Maybe not an issue in the 180. However, this did remind me of Purple Tilefish. I saw them before and loved them. Maybe I'll keep a look out for those or go with the dottybacks.
  • Flame Angels - I'm hesitant on angels. Don't want to risk corals, but maybe I'll chance it. Any thoughts on the risk of a Potter's vs Flame?
  • Genicanthus angels - I keep my tank around 80, will that be too hot for them? I want stuff that is super colorful, what's the most colorful one? Wantanabe Angel? Do these look purple in real life?

Flame Angel

Had mine about 4 weeks, a bit timid but out at feeding time. Swims everywhere which is cool to watch. Likes the odd bit of algae, and nips over the rocks, but lives the frozen shrimp. Not aggressive to other community fish. Smaller than the clowns but 3rd biggest in the tank 162 gallon
