Suggestion on flow please...

In an attempt to keep as little equipment as possible in my tank I ended up selling one of my Vortecs which to this day is a regret.
I have one MP40 on one end of my 5 ft tank and that's it. When the pump is running at full speed I do get flow right to the end. Is this enough? I have it set at RC mode.
Thanks in advance..Mike

Tank is 60 X 28 X 22

Not enough. I have 2 on my 90g and would love to have another. So just one deff not optamal. If you only want one pump I hear there is a mp60 now but they are way over priced.

I cant speak about the mp40 as I dont have one, but i have a fairly similar tank size as yours and am running 4 koralia evo in one end and 2 tunze 6045 modified in the other end of the tank for a total flow of around 9200 gph. if my math is correct then you'll need 2 more of those mp40.

I think with the low profile of your scape, 6-7K gph would be sufficient...

...until the coral grows in!

I am assuming that there is return flow from a sump!

I use 2 MP40's on my 48" x 24" x 30"tall 150g, plus two nanostreams shooting down behind the pillars. While I could probably do with more for the SPS, the rest of my mixed reef would not appreciate it :D

Darn..An MP60 would be my choice but price will be an issue.. Another MP40 coming shortly soon as one of my kids finally gets his braces, or should I get the pump first?

I wouldnt go for the mp60. Get 2 more 40's instead. I'd rather have 3 40's instead of 1 40 n 1 60. 3 locations of water movement will better benefit you than 2. Plus with the 60 it will be so strong u prob wont be able to keep anything near it. Id put 2 40's at the opposite end of your return so they oppose the flow. Set them on full speed long pulse, in sync with each other. This way they will control the direction of flow when on high, and your return will control it when they are on low. you would prob be ok with just 2 mp40's. If you wind up with 3 just mess with the third till u find a good spot

Thanks guys! Tank was made by Aquarium Obsessed. No longer in business.

I am trying not to put a pump on the one end I guess it won't happen. Unless I move all of the SPS and cram them on one side, then just put LPS on the other. Hmmm...
Look of the tank for me is important.
