I am getting my tank up and running as we speak...I have about 50lbs of uncured LR in the tank and a 1" sand bed...right now I am looking for a HOB skimmer because I am not using a sump ..so everything is going to be on the tank....Mind you its a 38 gallon tank..and I am undecided which one to buy...it will be off eBay so if anyone has any suggestions please post them......the only problem is ...$$$....I cant convince the wife to spend a whole-hell-of alot on this piece of equip.

I haven't heard good reviews of Jebo products, in general, so I'd avoid their skimmers. The CoraLife SuperSkimmers seem okay to me. I have the small one, though. There's no objective data on skimmers, sadly.

I've had the Coralife super skimmer 65 and now I have the aquaC remora pro. Both are good skimmers and are comparable in skimmate product in my experience. The CSS65 is a lot uglier, and the Remora was louder (it came with a mag 3 pump that was loud). If I were you, I would hold out to see if Deltec's new HOB the MCE300 is going to be any good. It looks cool with the pump in the chamber. I'm going to get one if it's decent.

The truth is, I'm not completely impressed with either the CSS65 or the Remora Pro.

Sorry :(

I have the coralife superskimmer 125 on my 60 gallon and I am pleased with it's performance. It is also very quiet. For the money you can't go wrong. It can be used as a HOB or in sump whichever you perfer. For your size tank I would recommend the coralife superskimmer 65. It will do a great job keeping your tank clean.
