Al G Blenny - knowing that the Magnavore now floats which would you prefer - Magnavore or Mighty Magnets?
I don't know. I would have to use the floating Magnavore first. Anyone out there have one? I would like to see it.

I'm glad you like the MMF-2. That is the one I use the most also. Did you get any of the add-ons? One of them is basically the outside pouch of a scrubbing sponge you can get at any grocery store. They sell it for like $2 so I just order it from them. They work great and they are acrylic safe.

I tried them all and there is nothing that compares with the Magnavore, I use the old style. Two disadvantages I noticed is that the old style does not float and will not go around the corners unless.....
The strenght is so great the you can use thicker pads, if you cut the pad about 3/8 to 1/2" larger on the sides you will be able to turn corners with it and will not be as heavy to drag.

I just checked out Mighty Magnets website and found a video where a guy cleans a 600g tank in less than a minute.

In the video he even scrapes the wall that is covered my the sand!

Question: How is it that he is not scratching the hell out of that tank? Is it something special about the Mighty mag design?

No the trick is an ovesized pad and keep the front of the magnet higher than the back when moving along the sand. As far as the grains do not get between the pane and the magnet they will not scratch, then at the end he pulls out so he does not drags it upwards in case a grain got entrapped.
