Suggestions for fish for a new tank

Keep in mind I'm new to the aquarium hobby. I was wanting suggestions on what some people would suggest to start out with fish wise for a tank that I would like to eventually have reef in. I currently have a flame angel and a clownfish. 55 gal tank.

Chromis are a nice addition. and Blennies are great, gobies too.

Be carefull with the Flame Angel if you are going to have corals. They are a 50/50 chance that they will nip at them.

Go with easy, hearty stuff and add slow. I am also fairly new to reefing and when I figured this out, everything started going a lot smoother.

A goby or blenny would be a nice addition if you don't have anything that hangs out on the substrate. You probably don't want anything too small, as neither the clown nor angel are pushovers.

Agreed! No damsels, your tank and all the fishes you add after the damsel will all be terrorised. My ex-damsels even tried to attach my hands when I do water changes and maintainance.
Chromis on the other hand are nice schooling fishes that won't bother others. You can add a sand sifting goby of some sort to help keep your sand aeriated. When you have enough algae you can consider an algae blenny, they go to work and take care of algae, also with lots and lots of character.

I would suggest a purple pseudochromis. I have one in my 54g and he is well behaved and a very active swimmer. They are hardy, acclimate well, and aren't picky eaters. Also, the bright purple will be a nice color contrast to your orange colored fish.
