Suggestions for places to stay-Roatan

Looking for suggestions for good places to stay while on a trip to Roatan-Honduras
We will be primarily be snorkeling,so a place thats close to a good snorkeling area,with nice ammenities etc-we are not rich,but dont want to stay in a backpackers either....( I did tons of hostels when younger )
Also,wife looked into airfares,the cost to get to International airport in Hon from chicago is the same as the cost to take the small plane to Roatan from the Int airport-is there a better way to get to Roatan from the Int' airport ?

I was there about a year ago. Stayed at Fantasy Island on the south shore. It was all-inclusive and was very convenient for doing alot of diving. The snorkeling was good too. It's not fancy, the food was so so, but the diving was incredible. Just a short swim to the east was CoCo View Resort. A little nicer and a little more expensive. Also, the snorkeling would be better there, as well. The thing about Fantasy Island and CoCo View, though, is that they're along way from anything but each other. If you crave night life and an assortment of restaurant choices, you will want to stay in the "West End" part of Roatan. I can't speak to the quality of snorkeling there though. I would imagine it's not so good.

I've been to Roatan before, cocoviewresort.com is where I stayed and its great if all you want to do is dive. It does not get much better than cocoview

Thanks for advice,Ive looked into west bay area,particulary west bay lodge.I know its off the beach,but seems to get great reviews,as well as a short walk to a great snorkeling beach (west bay).Seems like all the action is at west end,but for us,we love getting up early,and going to bed early when on a beach holiday,so I think west bay rather than west end.Anyone else with advise before we make a booking ??
