Suggestions on Clowns for Carpet Tank

The only time I have ever ordered live stock from LA was 2 BTAs that both died a few days after arriving. They do have some beautiful specimens but without seeing them in person, especially Carpets I would be cautious on purchasing them personally. Just a quick update, there has been a lose of one of the S. haddonis. The bigger of the two which looked AWESOME, and showed no signs of degrading health has died. The other one which still has a gapping mouth has not improved so I believe it is on its way out as well. I am keeping a close eye on it and will hopefully have better luck with the next batch. The Blue has never been happier, I think it perfers the 150 over the 300 personally.

Sorry to hear about the carpet. however the skunks are beautiful. You just help me make my carpet clown choice. I was leaning towards the clarki but Im not very fond of their appearance & the wifey informed me that she thought they were ugly so there out. Where did you get your skunks? Somewhere local to you or online? also would a couple skunks & a black clown be ok in a 180 or would there be trouble on the horizon.

Well just a quick update, the second carpet is not getting any worse but its not getting any better. Its kinda funny because when I got them the bigger of the two (14"-16" fully open) LOOKED GREAT! The other one had the gapping mouth and I thought for sure that it would be the one to go south. Well we both know how that ended up, its still hanging in there. Im trying to feed it every few days and it is eating and keeping its meal in. I am still keeping my fingers crossed but know that it still has a LONG ROAD ahead of it and the outcome does not look favorable.

To answer your question the clowns were purchased locally as well. Reference your question of mutiple pairs/clowns it is hit and miss. Many have success housing mutiple types of clowns in larger systems while some do not. Once you throw an Anenome into the equation it just compounds the situation. It never hurts to try but keep in mind that if you do indeed add multiple pairs/types into the same system you might have to seperate and attempt to fish them out and if your rock work is anything like mine in my 300 it would be impossible. Give it a shot but I would not get your hopes up. You might want to set up anenome at each end along with clowns that will be hosted in each.

I have a 94 gallon and I keep a pair of pink skunks in there and a pair of percs. The skunks don't bother the others unless they come too close to their anemone.
