Suggestions to keep streams from moving?

Hey Roger,

I got the package in perfect shape...thank you.

Quick question, do you have any suggestions that will keep the streams from rotating on the holders?
The liitle teeth aren't deep enough.

I know it doesn't seem like a big thing but a 10 degree angle change means the difference between the flow you want and an Acro colony losing its flesh. :D

Me too, the teeth don't seem to "bite" on my holders and they want to move all over the place.
 
Eventually the teeth will be made deeper, this is a by product of extending the post, it changed the leverage point and allows the teeth to slip. The ideal is to tap the post and then use a nylon screw through the hole in the sliding piece on the pump.
 
Buy a cheap Tap and Die kit, a basic one is about $18 from Lowes. You can use standard thread if you prefer, standard taps are usually cheaper and easier to come by. Then just buy a suitable nylon screw to fit the threads you cut in the post.
 
I have the same problem for my 2 6100 Tunze. What I realize though is that for the 1st week, it will continue to move. Move it back everytime it move and eventually it will stay good after a week.
 
BTW, the tap and die thing remains me of one of my favorite George Carlin one liners. "A man working at a tool and die store, died yesterday after being hit by a tool. " :lol:
 
I've seen this problem my bud's brand new set up which cost a bundle. :(
For the price Tunze charge for these things, shouldn't they be doing the drilling, tapping, and supplying of nylon screws, until they get the fix done?
If people DIY the fix and mess up, will Tunze send free replacements?
When is "eventually"? In my company we can routinely build and debug complex molds in about 12 weeks, and a lot faster when we discover a major design flaw.
 
It is far from a universal problem so they don't feel it is urgent and I agree, this problem seems to occur in some case but certainly not in most. How can you screw up using a tap? If you aren't comfortable with that use a zip tie. If we tapped every single one then everyone would be yelling about a 3 month backorder so we can't win, the time that would take is enormous, that work is all done by hand. It will be fixed but it can't be done immediately.
 
Yes....It becomes a major PIA when I have to move my stream every couple hours because it is now positioned directly at the overflow and splashing all over the place. For the $$$ I spent on these things I would hope they would stay in position. I am not willing to spend the money to buy a drill and tap set and begin a DIY project to fix a design flaw on a piece of equipment that I spent a load of $$$ on. Tunze needs to step up and fix the design flaw so new customers do not run into this problem as well as fixing the issue with their existing customers!

OK, the complaining isn't going to fix anything so lets move past that. We know the pieces could be better and we have a solution but I honestly don't see it being implemented in the immediate future. Sorry, but their is just too much to do and to few people to do it. If you are having a problem and don't want to try to fix it yourself, you can send the post to me and I will tap it and provide the screw. You would need to send part 6080.23. And please, don't ask for a free one, this is coming out of my pocket. I am willing to give you my time and a couple dollars in parts and shipping to make you happy but that is the limit. If you want to wait a few months, when the new part comes out, I am sure I can arrange some free ones, until then these are your options.
 
I didn't have to tap my 6000's. Just got a nylon screw as suggested and a larger nylon washer that covered the holes. Tightened them down with another nylon washer and nut and voila. Took 10 min. Most HD or Lowes have the right sizes you need.

Yes for sure that there is no way just the screw is enough to keep the pump from moving around but...I found in my kit an extra tapped plastic part that the screw happens to fit into perfectly. The part is for mounting the pump if you use the rails but I got the magnet holder so the extra part was'nt needed. It's the black plastic part that looks to be about one inch by half inch or so and it's nearly flat exept for two small rails running length wise.It fits right into place under the mount and locks into postition like a big nut. Once you thread the screw into it and tighten it up a bit there is no way that pump will move.Maybe providing an extra one of those parts would help the people who don't have the magnet and still need to use the rail mount system.
 
I used a threaded nylon screw.1/4-20x2 with a nylon wing nut available at lowes for about $1.50 for a pack of two.Works great just tighten snug and you can still adjust the stream.I have one of each left over if anyone needs them Ill be glad to mail it to you.rb
 
I have a pair of Tunze 6000's and i just mounted them to the holders and they seem to be fine. Do you need to run a screw in the hole ? Will the teeth strip over time ?
 
Their is no reson they would strip I cannot blanketly cover something like that under warranty, it would depend on the circumstances- warranty is only for defects of manufacturing, if it was constantly moved and abraded by that it wouldn't be covered.
