I have 2 regal blue tangs who appear to have ick-a few white spots which they are itching. Other than that they are fine, swimming around and eating well. My question is-I have already QT them once for ich, is it possible for them to get it again? I have added cleaner shrimp to the tank, will they help rid the tangs of ich? I've heard/read that ich is always present in the tank, but how do I prevent them from getting it every other week? I check my chemicals every week. Nitrates/nitrites/pH/alkalinity all within normal limits. Anyone have any suggestions?

DO you have UV set up running in the tank. Blue tangs are classic for getting this and once they have it there is debate if you can ever cure them of it. I have had extreme success running a UV 24/7 with my Blue tang and other tank mates in mixed reef set up with out being able to quarantine. I have cleaner shrimp and they do great cleaning other fish in tank but Blues don't seem to stay put for shrimp. None of my other fish ever show signs of ick and only if I move locations or stress tank does Blues spots return. I would suggest purchasing a UV unit for your tank and maybe you just need to run it until the spot fade. Best of luck.
