Suicidal clownfish

why? because it is going into shrooms? I've had a pair that used shrooms as a host before

Those are green hairy mushrooms and they eat fish, have watched them eat one of my yellow tail damsels..
He just started trying them as a host today, guess I will see in the morning when I get home..

I've only heard elephant ear shrooms eating fish, this is the first I've heard of hairy shrooms doing that.

I've got to ask since you knew it ate another fish why did you allow your clownfish to keep being hosted by it?

I also will go out on a limb to say it missed this mornings feeding too?

Noticed the hosting as I was leaving for work,,didn't want a clownfish in this tank for this reason.. Wife bought it and put it in...
I will give a good look when I get home, was planning on taking those shrooms out anyway...

I have the same mushroom and my clown host it all the time. Never had a problem in over a year While they can eat bigger pieces of shrimp. I haven't noticed them eating any fish

I had the green morph of those same hairy mushrooms eat a small maroon clown several years ago.

What kind of clown was that, melanopus or nigripes?

Since all its bottom fins are black, it can't be a tomato.

A. nigripes

A. melanopus

A. frenatus

A. ephippium

I have no idea what kind it was, other than $14..

Wife has been keeping an eye out for it, I have looked under the rockwork, still MIA..
Now she expects me to replace it,,,,,

Floor has been checked, those two shrooms are normally around 6"-7", when they are left alone...

Sorry for your loss.
I don't know if its the way the picture was taken, but that clown already looked very pale. An indication that it may have been on its way out.

Cell phone pic, it was fairly active , not as much as the 4-stripe damsel, but still all over the place and eating well..
