Sulfur - fluidized ?

OCEAN SIZE

BACK REEFIN'
I've read some older DIY sulfur denitrator threads where folks used essentially a RO/DI unit with 1) sulfur 2) aragonite 3) carbon to clean up the results

in that order

However, I wonder if the sulfur would best be fluidized? I am looking at making a gravity fed DIY sulfur denitrator and can go fluidized if that is more effective.

Otherwise, the modified ro/di setup would work just fine?

I fluidized mine, it actually plugged up and stopped working almost completely after a few months after the recirculation pump got jammed up. Make sure you place your recirculation pump above the sulfur pellets so that don't get into your impellor when the power cuts off (back flow). I used a mag5 and a 4" PVC w/ cleanout caps on both ends.

gravity fed sulfer denitrificator

I've build a gravity fed system that T's off of the return from my tank and is hanging above my sump under the main tank and stand. I haven't read of this method but I have the water first running through an approx 3.5 foot tube with argonite sand that is not of a quanity to occlude the water. Then the water goes to a parallel tube with sulfer in it, then a 3rd tube that is also parallel with crushed coral in it. The water is coming out at a few drips a second and is like 10-20 for nitrates using dip sticks while the main tank is up around 60. The question is if this drip rate is going to give any real changes to the main tank.
