Sulfur?

So I was doing some maintenance on my fuge today (cleaning out the socks, removing some excess algae) and I noticed that there was some sort of build-up in the other drain pipe. So I went to go vacuum some of the debris out and I got this horrible smell of rotten eggs. This is the distinct sulfur smell, but is this normal. I mean I know about nitrates and phosphates and stuff like that, but sulfates or sulfites?

It is normal for some sulfur smell is pockets of anoxic soil/sand. I would encourage you to run some carbon and aerate the water almost excessively.

Best wishes :)

Well, I've cleaned that area out and I'm gonna reroute the drain hose so I can use both of these drain pipes, but it was a REALLY strong smell. I guess I just wasn't expecting this but I'm running carbon so I'll just keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help.
