sump and Refugium

so is a sump and Refugium the same thing? I can put filtration and a skimmer in a Refugium too? Dose one need both?

No, not exactly. A sump is a reservoir that houses our skimmers, heater, etc... A fuge is a seperate area, sometimes inside the sump, that is free of predators. A place to grow macro and pods.

You can also make or buy one to house your heater, protein skimmer and still have a compartment for a fuge. I ordered a 30 for my 46 bow front. Let the plumbing games begin.

This is a very basic sump design that is quite effective. Very easy to build from an existing glass tank.
