Hi all,
I've officially gotten my tank in and am currently trying to design the sump I will be going with.
After taking the measurements of the stand (and digging deep within to utilize any trigonometry left floating around my brain), I've concluded that what I can maneuver through the doors would be a 45" x 20" x 20" sump.
Some equipment restricting the design that I already have: SRO XP3000 (14.5" x 13" footprint) and (2) EHEIM 1260s (6.25" x 8.5" footprint).
The two returns are about 6 - 6.5' apart in the tank. My initial thoughts were to design the sump in such a way that each pump was on opposite sides from one another in an attempt to get them as close to the return holes as possible (to reduce any horizontal distance traveled in the return line). Or, if it doesn't matter if the horizontal distance traveled is say 2' vs. 3', then I was thinking of having both pumps in a central chamber of the sump with a skimmer chamber and refugium on each side.
Does anyone have any suggestions, experiences, drawings/pictures that they could share with me? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I will start up a "build" thread once I can get the sump designed and production started. Promise to include lots of pictures!!!
